Kindergarten May/June Newsletter

The children received their report cards last week. Please look for a parent-teacher conference sheet in the hallway.
We finished our letter books last month and have begun our reading and writing books. We also have been working in our writing journals each morning.
The children continue to work on their numbers 1-20. We have been working on addition and subtraction.
In science, we are talking about seeds and parts of a plant. We are also talking about how caterpillars turn into butterflies.
In Social Studies, we discuss Mother’s Day, Bike Day, and Memorial Day.
We will be having Bike Day on Thursday, May 25h. The children may bring their bikes and helmets to school on this day.
Show and Tell is on Fridays. Since we finished all of our letters, the children can bring whatever they choose on these days to share with the class.
There will be no school on Monday, May 29th in honor of Memorial Day.
Kindergarten graduation will be held on Thursday, June 1st. It is
held in the evening, usually around 6:00 or 6:30. A note with more details will be sent home at a later date.
There will be school on Friday, June 2nd. It will be a “Fun in the Sun” day. The child can bring bathing suits and water toys to school. We will play outside all day! Fun!
When we go outside in the morning for recess, it is still chilly sometimes. Please make sure your child has a jacket or sweatshirt. Also, if your child wears sandals to school, please pack tennis shoes for the playground. The mulch gets in their sandals/flip flops making them uncomfortable. We ask that you put sunscreen on your child prior to them coming to school.
If you have any questions or concerns, please feel free to contact me.
Thank you,

Miss MaryAnn
Important Dates:

Since we will be spending more time outdoors, please be sure to send shoes for outdoor play. We often go out on the small playground or ride the push bikes on the back porch.

Just a Reminder: It is a STATE requirement that all bottles, sippy cups and juice boxes are labeled. If you don’t already have a lunch box for your child, please consider using one.
